Three arrested for allegedly stealing $7K worth of perfume - The Daily Herald

LYNNWOOD — A perfume heist at Alderwood mall ended with three women arrested for investigation of a $7,000 theft.

All three women are from Portland, Oregon. One of them was caught shoplifting from Sephora in the mall around 8:45 p.m. Dec. 11, according to a probable cause statement filed in court. As security stopped her, two others ran for the mall exit with stuffed handbags.

A Lynnwood police officer and mall security chased them to the parking lot. A security guard tackled one woman, 25, to the ground. She kicked the guard in the shoulder and face, and reached for the pepper spray in his utility belt, the report says. A third woman, 28, fought and dragged her feet on her way back to a mall security office. She ran, she said, because she felt uncomfortable when security tried to confront her.

The first woman admitted she’d stolen 15 fragrances from the Sephora two days earlier, according to the statement. She’d sold most of them, she continued, but still had about five left in her car. They were retrieved. Police recovered dozens of fragrance bottles from the women, many of them valued at more than $100. The total value of stolen inventory was $7,097.

Officers arrested all three women for investigation of first-degree theft and — in the case of the woman accused of kicking the guard — second-degree robbery.
