Framingham Police: Man illegally selling stolen perfume - MetroWest Daily News

6:27 AM

FRAMINGHAM – Police say they believe the perfume an Italian man was illegally selling on the streets of Framingham was stolen.

Police arrested Luigi Troianiello, 47, on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, an officer was parked in his personal vehicle when Troianello pulled up beside him, saw he was an officer and quickly drove away. Seconds later, a second man came to the officer and said Troianello was trying to sell perfume he claimed would “knock people out,” to women on Coburn Street, police wrote in a report.

Officers found Troianiello parked on Waverly Street. At first, he denied selling anything, but then admitted he had numerous bottles of perfume. He said he came from Italy to the United States once a year to buy perfume for $6 a bottle, and then resells it in the Boston area.

“He bought 72 bottles of perfume for $6 each and none were offered for less than $100 each,” police wrote.

Officers believed the “knock people out” description of the perfume was an issue with language. However, police wrote, they believe that the perfume was stolen because no legitimate business would sell perfume that retailed for up to $188 a bottle would sell it to someone for $6.

Police charged Troianiello, of Naples, Italy, with receiving stolen property worth more than $250 and panhandling without a license.

At Troianillo’s Framingham District Court arraignment on Wednesday, Judge David Frank dismissed the case on $500 court costs.
