Boynton Police: Woman stole Rihanna perfume, hid clothes in spandex - Palm Beach Post

A 61-year-old woman with a history of theft convictions was arrested again in Boynton Beach after a Stein Mart store manager recognized her as a suspect in another theft, according to city police.

Shunta McGrady, who faces charges of grand theft and using an item to counter any anti-shoplifting devices, remains in the Palm Beach County jail on $7,000 bail.

McGrady, who has at least 12 convictions for theft since 2005, went into the Stein Mart on North Congress Avenue on Sunday, according to police. The manager of the store recognized McGrady as a suspect in a theft case from a Boca Raton Stein Mart. The woman told police she watched McGrady open a box of Rihanna perfume and place the bottle in her purse. Soon after, she said McGrady went into the store’s men’s department and put four pairs of pants and seven shirts underneath her dress and into a white pair of spandex.

A police officer at the scene stopped McGrady to which she said she only stole perfume, according to the report.

Investigators said when they recovered the clothing from under her dress, they noticed tin foil was placed over an anti-theft device.

McGrady currently has an open theft case as well, according to court records.
