While Kristen Bell will forever be the voice of Gossip Girl in our hearts, the actress was on the Emmy Awards red carpet tonight to promote her all new comedic TV show with Ted Dansen. And Bell proved her comedy skills are totally up to snuff, discussing her Zuhair Murad gown and her budget-friendly secret to masking some of the more unpleasant smells that naturally accompany being the mother of two young children.
Talking to Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet, the Veronica Mars star explained the inspiration behind her choice in gown this year, a taupe-colored look modified from a Fall/Winter 2016 couture Zuhair Murad Couture gown featuring a full skirt, plunging neckline, and an all-over embroidered floral pattern. “I wanted to do something more, I don’t know, whimsical than I’ve ever done before,” she told E!, “And this pattern was perfect. It’s very comfortable.”

As she continued to discuss some favorite aspects of her new role, she said, “It’s nice to sort of see the moments when you’re not in a dress and you have avocado on every part of your shirt and you smell like urine.” At which point, Rancic leaned over to sniff Bell, enthusing that she actually smelled amazing, and asking her what she wears.
Turns out the actress doesn’t just smell like a dream, she also budgets like one. Instead of paying an arm and a leg for some custom eau de toilette, Kristen simply heads on over to her local Whole Foods to pick up a $4 bottle of amber essential oil. Good to know your new favorite scent is available just a few aisles over from the baby diapers.
